THE MOMENT

UNF ringside artist Steve Nakamura captures more than the fight, he captures the moment. The MOMENT when the crowd erupts, the energy becomes electric, and everything hangs in the balance.

The grit, discipline, and journey to be a UNF fighter is mirrored in Steve’s own journey to perfect his craft. He invests time in the gyms. Painting, watching and learning. Getting to know the movements, the faces, the personalities, and the subtle tells that reveal what happens next. That practice creates instinctive brush movements mirroring a fighter who has trained for the MOMENT.

At 5 PM, Steve takes his place in his own fighting corner, just outside the octagon. The first fight begins, he enters a state of flow. The movements, the intensity, the crowd, the anticipation, all of it becomes part of the painting. Time disappears.

Capturing the fleeting moment of warriors’ battles.

While the audience cheers, looks for their heros, waits for the next fight, and celebrates each victory, Steve keeps painting. Remaining immersed in the rhythm and energy of the night, translating the raw physicality and emotion of the fighters onto canvas.

He won’t stop until the final fight is over, until the last echoes of the crowd have faded, and people begin to trickle away.

The UNF warriors fight. The crowd feels. The artist captures it all.
